Guarding Our Future Security

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:
but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
~Proverbs 29:2

I thank God for this free country I live in.  I thank God for the blessings He has bestowed upon the United States (even though we --including myself-- have been taking those blessings for granted.)
I think most would agree that this country He gave us is in bad disrepair--spiritually, for one thing.  I feel that the state of our country is partly due to us who, as saints, have woefully fallen back as prayer warriors.  It is imperative that we pray regularly for those in authority; as Paul exhorts Timothy, "first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings [or presidents!], and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty" (1 Tim. 2:1-2, emphasis added).  It is growing increasingly uncertain that we will be leading quiet and peaceable lives in the near future!
While reading Lives of the Singers of the Declaration of Independence, it was interesting to note that most, if not all, were solid Christian men, outspoken in their dedication to the Lord and His precepts.  It makes me wonder how much the prayers of the people-- even the pilgrims of a century before-- paid off so that, in our greatest hour of need, our leaders were men of godly character.  How much more can God raise up godly leaders for us now, in this most crucial time in America's history since the Civil War!
"...But when a long train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, it is a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security."
~Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776
It seems there is a Design to reduce us under absolute Despotism, and it isn't too late to retake our country.  Indeed, it is our Duty.  And our foremost duty is to pray, daily and hourly for a Revival to sweep the country.  Another is to vote*... before we lose the privilege!

*For those who haven't voted yet, a great voter guide put out by the Heritage Alliance can be found at ivoterguide.com.
